Core Values

In order for democracy to flourish, citizens must be active participants in their government and their community. They must also be educated to think critically and must be free to express themselves. The staff at Community Television of Knoxville (CTV) supports the public, educational and government (PEG) access goals in the City of Knoxville to advance democratic ideals by ensuring that people have access to electronic media and to promote effective communication through community uses of media.

Since 1975, Community Television of Knoxville has been providing training and access to media production facilities for the exclusive non-commercial use by residents of the City of Knoxville & Knox County. Accessible to more than 100,000 cable TV subscribers throughout Knoxville & Knox County and millions of others around the world via the Internet, CTV serves a wide constituency, including community residents, local government agencies, nonprofit organizations and other community groups that use our facilities & equipment to produce programs.

Providing local programming not available anywhere else, CTV is the place where community is truly empowered through the use of media. Program topics on CTV address a wide variety of issues related to local and global concerns, including the arts, living with disabilities, environmental issues, local government, historic preservation, physical & mental health, lifestyles, municipal & political affairs, religious & spiritual issues, sports, travel, recreation and more.
