“Public awareness is one of the main objectives for a non-profit. People can’t support your cause if they don’t know that you exist or who you are. CTV is a great vehicle for this through their community calendar so we can let people know about our events; through their digital story telling, so we can let people know who we are; and through their regular series and live programming, so we can let people know our unique perspective in dealing with people with significant disabilities.”
“More than 30 years ago, The Knoxville Academy of Medicine Auxiliary (KAMA) developed a television show called Healthline to provide health education for the community. CTV has continued to give us the opportunity to share current information on health issues for all these years.”
— Sheila Wittke, Knoxville Academy of Medicine Alliance
“CTV has been an excellent community voice to showcase local issues and events. Most TV shows do not have the time to do in-depth interviews on given issues and do not have the TV time to feature local personalities. Their TV time is used for more of a national focus.”
“I have known about CTV of Knoxville for years and have often watched other non-profits’ shows as well as city and county government meetings. They truly do represent our community.”
— Shelley Wascom, Executive Director – Community Shares of Tennessee
“I have worked with Community Television of Knoxville for many years, primarily to tape quarterly Mayor’s Council On Disability Issues (CODI) meetings. Any time that a scheduling problem has presented itself, CTV staff has gone out of their way to work with me in order to ensure that the taping takes place. Even when the meeting had to be moved to a location in which it is less easy to produce a taping, CTV staff has always been willing to accommodate whatever our situation, while being professional and helpful all the while.
— Stephanie Cook, Disability Services Coordinator - City of Knoxville
“I have been involved with CTV since 1994. I was a public information officer for the City of Knoxville and under Mayor Victor Ashe’s direction I routinely scheduled taping of public meetings and events. Working with CTV staff was very easy and there was always a crew present where and when we had requested. I realized that there was significant viewership as we had routine feedback from people who viewed these public events. I understood then how important it was to get reliable information from CTV.”
— Marie Alcorn, Community Action Committee - Office on Aging
“Since adding the channel to our lineup, we have received positive feedback from our customers regarding the programming and community information now available to them. Our experience with CTV has definitely been a positive one. The staff is always very courteous and professional, and we look forward to a long lasting partnership.”
— Jason Clabo, General Manager; Knology of Knoxville
“Working in partnership with CTV allows Comcast to provide unique television programming to the residents of the City of Knoxville. Public, Educational & Government (PEG) Access channels can only be found on cable television – not over the “air waves” of broadcast television stations and not via satellite television. Residents who are dependent on broadcast or satellite delivery methods cannot watch local government meetings or any of the other community produced programming on their television.”
