We have two different kinds of EXTERNAL MICROPHONES that you can check out - the HANDHELD MIC and the LAVALIER MIC, which clips to your clothing. For either one of these, you will need to connect a MICROPHONE ADAPTER to the camera.
To connect the adapter, remove the SHOULDER MOUNT by unscrewing the thumbscrew on the bottom of the shoulder mount and pulling the unit slightly to the back to disengage the tab on the mount from the camera. Take the MICROPHONE ADAPTER and place it on the bottom of the camera so that the BLACK TAB fits into the slot at the back of the camera, and the thumbscrew is over the hole on the bottom of the camera. Then tighten the THUMBSCREW, finger tight – don’t over tighten.
Open the tall black door at the back of the handle, (above the microphone adapter, and plug the color coded RCA audio plugs (red and white) into the same color socket. Plug the silver power lead (1/8 inch plug) into the power outlet on the back of the camera above the white audio outlet.
Now you can plug the 3-prong XLR CABLE into the microphone adapter. Now you are ready to connect external microphones to the XL-1.
